Hillary thought life couldn’t get any worse after a failed suicide attempt left her needing 160 stitches. However, shortly after her release from hospital, Hillary became the victim of a serious assault.
Realising she needed support, she moved to be closer to her parents. Depressed and unable to find work, Hillary signed up for the Team programme and immediately noticed a change in herself. From mountain climbing to fundraising, Hillary pushed herself hard and it gave her the confidence boost she needed.
After Team, Hillary volunteered at a number of local charities and became a Young Ambassador for The Trust, sharing her story at numerous Trust events. Hillary’s work as a Young Ambassador helped to raise thousands of pounds for The Trust and has influenced many young people to turn their lives around. She is committed to inspiring change and now works for The Trust full time as a Job Ambassador.
